  • While I agree most of Aikido is essentially useless you showed Seagal on here sort of implying he's a joke. Am I the only one who remembers Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida both thanking Seagal following their knockout wins, saying Seagal taught them the kicks they won with? Silva's knockout of Belfort and Machida's knockout of Couture were both attributed to Seagal as having taught them those kicks.

  • Real Kyushujutsu isn't used in competition because it simply too lethal. By just touching the right pressure point, either by touching it with a finger or hitting it with a punch or kick, you can make your opponent explode from the inside, and its defence is undefeatable, if your strikes connect you explode, then you have to add various breathing techniques that can make the practitioner's skin harder than steel and able to resist temperatures over 100000 degree celsius, and others that increase physical strength by hundreds of times. And to top it all off there are also ranged techniques that allow you to shoot streams of raw energy, either focused to hit pressure points or just raw energy capable to melt steel, and if that isn't enough there's also a technique, an awakened state to be precise, that allows you to become intangible, faster than light and that also grants you precognition. We can safely conclude that Kyushojutsu is utterly invincible, it's the ultimate assassination art. Luckily the more advanced techniques are passed down to only one individual for each generation.

  • There’s some incorrect approaches here. Kung fu, is not only effective, but we have for example, cung lee, the vietnamite strikeforce champion using sanda, a variety of kung fu who has throws, kicks, punchs, etc and be a good method of fighting from MMA universe. The same i can talk about the traditional capoeira, who is not simply a “dance” but has fluid movements like locks, throws, kicks and hip movements who help to escape a attack on the floor for example.

  • Isn't the biggest reason Aikido is not used is because small joint manipulation is illegal in MMA(and most combat sport) rules? Also, wearing gloves makes it extremely difficult to do so even if it was legal.

    Darkray16Darkray162 päivää sitten
  • The problem with including Jeet kune do is, as you described, it is not a system of combat, but a philosophy of not following any particular system and just use whatever works best. Therefore you cannot say that the system of Jeet kune do is not seen much in MMA, because it is not a system of strikes, but merely the concept, "use whatever works best". Which I would argue is the epitome of MMA training. It's a combat system that only become popular recently and much of the training takes things from existing combat systems.

  • Dumfuck thats what jkd literally is mma. Its the concept of not just knowing one or even two things.. Bruce lee checked out all the styles and wrote what he liked. All of which has made its way into recorded fights in mma today. Whether u think he was a great fighter or just a martial arts fanatic . his concept was 100% aligned with what mma is. That it even made its way in the video as a style is stupid.

    M SM S8 päivää sitten
  • At first I was about to get pissed, since you seemed to be saying that MMA is the only martial arts form that is effective in combat. Good thing you eventually changed it to "sport". There are many actual combat martial arts out there that would destroy an MMA fighter in an actual "life or death" fight, in which there are no rules. The only one you really talked about is Krav Maga. In an actual real world free for all, anyone trying to do ground fighting is going to get their head stomped in. Sure you got one guy down and are choking him, but now you are on the ground and immobile when the next guy starts kicking and stomping your head into mush. MMA also does not deal with weapons of any kind, which makes it worth very little in many real life situations. Would you bet on an MMA fighter or a HEMA fighter with a stick in no holds barred, if both had roughly the same physical ability and total training time in their form?

  • Hey everyone. This guy is very confused, I think he may be talking about arts he doesn’t really understand. It seems like a lot of the comments are people that already realized this. I am talking specifically about the jkd segment. I train at a kickboxing/ mma gym and at the school he keeps showing in his jkd part of the video. And they teach all the same stuff plus more. Those guys are for real and I saw in the comments they offered this guy that made the video the opportunity to come in and spar. I hope he takes it! (He definitely won’t tho). Even the clips of the school he shows in this video are the students practicing footwork which if you know anything about martial arts it usually the sign of a good school right there. Also he shows in the video a clip of Anderson Silva as he says no one in mma uses jkd which is a contradiction in itself. Come on man!!! Get your facts straight before you post a video like this.. go in and check out the school and spar with these guys before you post something saying their techniques are not effective. I think that’s a fair ask..

  • You did JKD so dirty... saying that there was "certainly a style about it" is just not true at all and if you were to read all of his books you would know that Its a very flexible form of expression that allows room for all martial art techniques as it is meant to be all encompassing. This creates a great variety of ways or flavors of fighting within it depending on technique preference (hmm sounds like modern day mma). Yes Bruce himself had techniques he preferred more than others, but those techniques absolutely do not define JKD and those preferences will be different for everyone. It is essentially "mixed martial arts" with no rules or regulations which was not designed for competition or to be considered a single martial art, so of course its not going to be represented. People need to stop treating it like a strict, non-flexible, stringent system with fixed techniques. Bruce literally created mma and that's what JKD alongside his philosophy is supposed to represent. Its like saying mma is one of the top 10 worst martial arts for mma... very disappointing.

  • Krav Maga is also primarily meant to be used against elderly women or young children below the age of fourteen. Very interesting martial art, designed especially for confined areas, such as a jail cell (for torturing prisoners) or if you are trying to throw a family out of their ancestral home so some people from Brooklyn can move in. It's worth noting that in Krav Maga, one of the main tenets is this: if it looks like the person can in any way defend themselves, simply shoot them dead from far away. Afterwards you shall receive a medal for incredible bravery and a Krav Maga black belt, as well as a pair of traditional brown trousers so that in future people won't know when you have shit yourself.
